The Ocean Coral&Turquesa hotel received the Condé Nast Traveler 2009 award for the best international resort. The readers of the Spanish edition of this prestigious travel magazine voted the Ocean Coral&Turquesa hotel the best international resort from a list of finalists that featured a selection of the finest hotels from all over the world.
Gemma Espelt, H10 Hotels Marketing Director, picked up the award last Monday at the ceremony held in the Cecilio Rodríguez Gardens in Madrid's Retiro Park. The gala was attended by numerous representatives from the tourist sector and by well-known faces such as the actress Aitana Sánchez Gijón, the television personalities Ana García Siñeriz, Mercedes Milá and Paula Vázquez, the model Martina Klein or the singer Alaska.
The director of the magazine, Sandra del Río, highlighted the fact that it is very important that these awards are decided by the actual readers. "We can regard them as the Oscars of the travel business, and the category of the winners is proof that the readers are well aware of who they are voting for", she said.
The Ocean Coral&Turquesa, officially opened in December 2007, is a five-star sea-front resort in Puerto Morelos, on the Riviera Maya. The resort stands in an unbeatable location along the beach, which means that all its rooms have spectacular sea views. Moreover, it boasts an outstanding contemporary interior design, topped off by local details, and its spacious and well-lit rooms decorated with modern furniture, four exclusive à la carte restaurants, a beach restaurant, terraces, a chill-out lounge bar facing the sea and fully-equipped spa have made the hotel one of the reference spots for travellers to the Riviera Maya.

The season has begun for the breeding of Hawksbill turtles, one of the most beautiful marine species to grace seas and oceans. The Hawksbill turtle inhabits the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and the Caribbean Sea, and is to be found near coral reefs.
These turtles lay clutches of between 50 and 200 eggs in holes on the beaches and cover them up. When the hatchlings are born about two months later, they head straight for the sea.
The Ocean Coral & Turquesa allows its guests to participate in this unforgettable event by aiding the turtles in their route from the nest on the hotel beach to the water. Moreover, the hotel's personnel explain the particularities of the species and make sure they are safe.
