Ocean Coral Spring, the new idyllic H10 Hotels resort in Jamaica

Ocean Coral Spring reopens its doors after being closed for several months due to the pandemic. The impressive newly built resort, the first H10 Hotels establishment in Jamaica, first opened in December 2019. Situated on the northwest coast of the Caribbean island, its sea-facing location, the lush nature that surrounds the hotel and the access it provides to a spectacular white sand beach with turquoise water makes it a truly unique spot. The Ocean Coral Spring boasts elegant, fully equipped Suites, as well as spacious terraces and gardens with swimming pools, a water park and a lazy river with a gentle current. What’s more, among the wide range of services there are plenty of dining options with 10 restaurants and 9 bars, a Despacio Spa Centre, the Privilege, Exclusive Rooms and Services and a complete entertainment programme for the whole family. The complex is located just 30 minutes from Montego Bay, the second largest city in Jamaica, the island’s tourism capital and home of Sangster International Airport. This modern city offers all types of experiences: restaurants on the coast, boutiques and various points of interest for tourists, including the Doctor’s Cave beach and the Rose Hall Great House, an old house from the 19th century which has become one of Jamaica’s most popular cultural attractions. East of Montego Bay and only 5 km from Ocean Coral Spring is the coastal village of Falmouth, the capital of Trelawny, which features architecture with an English influence mixed with the vibrant colours of the Caribbean, and is the location of the Luminous Lagoon, visited by travellers from around the world. The north coast of the island is also ideal for snorkelling and diving in coral reefs, as well as for getting front row seats to gaze at the Caribbean sunsets from its piers.

The new Ocean Coral Spring is a newly built complex characterized by its architecture with curved shapes and light colours. Fully integrated into its environment, the hotel is located by the beach and its rooms are distributed across low rise buildings which surround a spacious solarium with large swimming pools. Jamaica’s colonial past, together with its rainforest setting and direct access to the sea served as the design inspiration for the complex’s main spaces. Within it, fine materials such as wood, marble and stone are combined with painted murals and tiled pieces, creating characterful environments in which the details become the protagonists. For its part, the furniture and decoration has been carefully selected to provide every space with its own style. In the lobby, a vintage airplane model sits in a tropical setting portrayed in ceramic murals, which contrasts perfectly with the modernity of the space where the Front Desk and the Lobby Bar are also located. The rest of the spaces in the establishment have a colonial feel, reinterpreted with touches of freshness and modernity. The new Ocean Coral Spring boasts spacious and bright Suites equipped with all kinds of amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. These include, among others, a Smart TV with international channels, a Minibar, a coffee maker, a climate control system and a fully equipped bathroom with whirlpool and rain shower. All the rooms are built with high quality materials such as walnut wood and wicker.

What’s more, the headboards of the beds feature replicas of Jamaican ports and city plans from the colonial era, which evoke the history and geography of the country. The hotel has Swim-Up Junior Suites, Rooftop Junior Suites, Master Suites and Privilege Suites. Among these, the Swim-Up Junior Suites stand out; they are located on the ground floor and have direct access to a swimming pool from their terrace, while the Rooftop Junior Suites are situated on the top floor and include a terrace with sun loungers and a private jacuzzi. As for its dining options, the Ocean Coral Spring offers a very wide variety, with a total of ten restaurants: Martha’s Market, an international buffet restaurant with show cooking and nine international à la carte restaurants specializing in Italian, Asian, Jamaican and American food among others. Jamaican cuisine is characterized by its strong Anglo-Saxon influence, with jerk chicken being one of its most renowned dishes. This and many more of the country’s dishes are served daily at Jamaican Grill, one of the complex’s most distinguished restaurants, in which you can also taste jerk pork, rice with beans and different types of fish from the area. La Locanda, an Italian à la carte restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere, is another of the Ocean Coral Spring’s interesting culinary options, where you can sample typical Italian dishes, including a classic Bolognese, different types of risotto, fish and stuffed pastas, all made with fresh ingredients. The resort also has nine bars, as well as an ice cream shop and the Mike’s Coffee speciality cafeteria.
